This Website—TrishTales.com (Writing, Graphics, Web Design, HTML, CSS, & CMS Sample)

I created this website as a showcase for my creative projects. I hand-coded it in CoffeeCup HTML Editor, created all of the graphics in Paint Shop Pro, and wrote all of the content. My current ongoing project is Action Figure Diary, a weekly photo-comic I started because I wanted to tell stories in a visual way. I set up Action Figure Diary in the Nucleus content management system and customized it to function like a webcomic and look like the rest of my site. This comic gets approximately 10,000 visitors a month, and traffic increases every month. For an overview of this site, visit the site map.  Top

Website of Leann Rayfuse (Web Design, HTML, CSS, & CMS Sample)

Visit BodyMindSpiritCoach.com  As a freelance project, I built this website to market the services of Leann Rayfuse, holistic counselor and coach. The client didn't have web experience, but wanted to make text updates herself. I built the website in the Nucleus content management system and configured separate accounts for editing content and administrating major functions, so she could change text without affecting navigation, etc. The client writes her own web copy. I provide website support as needed.  Top

MissionWise Website (Web Writing & Editing Sample)

Visit MissionWise.org  I wrote and edited this website while working for Comprehensive Health Education Foundation. The goal was to sell the services of a new business-development division. I worked closely with principals to determine their audience and message, wrote most of the copy, edited the work of others, and made online edits in the DotNetNuke content management system. I also wrote online help for the members-only features. My coworkers deserve all the credit for the website's design and development.  Top

Chill Website (Web Writing & Editing Sample)

Visit chill.chef.org  I wrote and edited this website while working for Comprehensive Health Education Foundation. The goal was to sell the Chill series on teen stress management. I worked closely with salespeople to determine the audience and goals, wrote most of the copy, edited the work of others, and made online edits in the DotNetNuke content management system. My coworkers deserve all the credit for the website's design and development.  Top

Seattle Great Date Website (Writing, Web Design, HTML, & CSS Sample)

Note: I'm using a screen shot because Seattle Great Date closed and an adult website purchased the domain name. I have NO affiliation with the current site, which is not work-safe.

View a SeattleGreatDate.com Screen Shot (JPG)  As a freelance project, I wrote, designed, and built a website for Seattle Great Date, a local speed dating service. The client requested a clean, simple website that was very strong in cross-browser compatibility. I wrote the copy, designed the layout, and coded the HTML in CoffeeCup HTML Editor. I also created five sign-up forms and configured a Perl script called FormMail to process them. When the website was complete, I recruited subjects to do usability testing in a variety of browsers.  Top

The members-only sections of the website had features that the members didn't know how to use, and the help files included with DotNetNuke were written for web developers. Now, members can click the help link next to a feature and see user-friendly instructions for that feature.  Top

Captaris Speech Manual, Chapter 3 (Editing & Microsoft Word Sample)

View the Tracked Changes Version of Ch. 3 (PDF)  I edited this software manual chapter and reformatted it in Microsoft Word as an assignment for my Software Documentation class in the Bellevue Community College Technical Writing program. The assignment was to edit one chapter of the Captaris Speech Server Installation Guide with a focus on giving the instructions a clear, concise style. VCR Manual Documentation Plan (Documentation Plan & Adobe FrameMaker Sample)
